Professional Security Officer Training ​

Plancher Security & Investigation is a fully licensed and state-certified Florida security officer training school dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in private security. Our programs meet Florida licensing requirements while providing instruction that extends beyond the minimum standards. Students develop essential skills in professional conduct, communication, sound judgment, situational awareness, safety, and the responsibilities of a security officer. Our goal is to ensure students leave with more than a certificate. Through comprehensive instruction and practical guidance, we help students build the knowledge and confidence necessary to perform their duties responsibly and effectively in a professional security environment.​

Complete the required 40-hour Florida Class D Security License training fully online through state-approved, instructor-led courses, earning a certificate to apply for your license.

Course Overview:

The Florida Class D Security License requires 40 hours of mandatory training for unarmed security officers, covering legal responsibilities, patrolling techniques, emergency response, and professional standards. Online courses are live instructor-led, allowing interaction with licensed instructors via Zoom or secure platforms, ensuring you receive guidance and can ask questions in real time. These programs are state-approved and comply with Florida Statute 493 and Florida Administrative Code 5N-1.140

Course Requirements:

• Complete 40 hours of course instruction

• Successfully pass the end-of-course examination with a 75% or higher score

• Computer and Internet access with video and audio capabilities

• U.S state or federal-issued photo identification. This will need to be uploaded to your student portal and presented daily during attendance

• Mandatory attendance for 40 hours and exam completion

Course Outcome:

Upon successful completion of this training, the student can apply for the Florida Security D license. Plancher Security will issue the certificate of completion (form # FDACS 16103) to the student and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

• Live, instructor-paced sessions to ensure active participation and engagement.

• Coverage of legal knowledge, practical skills, and professional standards for roles in retail, corporate, residential, healthcare, construction, and event security.

• State-required examination at the end of the course, with certification available for printing 24 hours after completion.

• Identity verification using a webcam and ID photos to maintain compliance and accountability.

• Flexible scheduling options, including daytime and evening sessions, to accommodate working professionals.

Students will participate via a secure platform, guided by a Florida DI-licensed instructor. Topics cover a wide variety of industry subjects and follow the training guidelines outlined in Florida Administrative Code 5N-1.140.
